Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the match between the French league winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

Yet, Marseille fired twice in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout win.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
